These are a Few of my Favorite Things...

While sitting trapped during this hurricane I decided to channel back to my "Sound of Music days."  My sister and I used to watch that movie every time we would spend the night at our grandparents.  During the storm scene they sang about their favorite things to cheer themselves up so what have I done? I came up with a list of my personal favorite things!

1. Black dresses and red lips
2. Buns and baubles
3. Neutrals paired with neons
4. Spikes and sexy dresses

Pump it Up

Pumps are nearly impossible for me to walk in however, when they have a thick heel like this, they are perfect.  I can walk for miles in a thick heel.  They help stabilize my ankles and give my arch enough support.  This pair is absolutely gorgeous... quite pricy but they are to die for.  Definitely on my 'If I win the lottery list'.  They are on sale for $199.00 which could be a plus!

FashionU Takes Over TopShop

Teen Vogue Fashion University was by far the greatest experience of my life (again..) and I could not be more thankful for it!  

The second shopping event Teen Vogue put together for the lucky 500 attendees was at TOPSHOP!  I know, amazing right?!  Anyways, they hosted an incredible event.

When you walked into the flagship TOPSHOP store, you were greeted by TVFU staff and got to take pictures with the TVFU+TOPSHOP backdrop.  Next to the backdrop you were able to see the monitors on the wall showing clips of twitter and questions TOPSHOP and TVFU were tweeting.  If you answered a question correctly in a tweet at @TVFU, you won makeup! Obviously I answered as many as I could! Not only could you win makeup but you could get it done professionally by the artists at TOPSHOP.  Your nails could be painted as well.  Talk about a full on make over! New clothes, makeup and nails?! What a perfect night out.

The fabulosity did not stop there though!  Once you went up the escalator, you were able to go into a private area where hot chocolate, desserts, mocktails and candy was being served! Each and everything was delicious! (We will keep it a secret that I tried it all!)  

You would think that after all that TVFU was doing for us that the private party room would be the end of it right? Well you are wrong! They also gave each student a discount when they went to check out at the register!  I could not have been more thankful!

Wrapped Around My Finger

I am obsessed with bows... obviously.  This ring caught my eye and it is on sale! How much more perfect could it be?! Oh wait.... it's green too! Perfect to add that special pop of color to my outfit!

Friday Night Fun in NYC

My Teen Vogue Fashion University weekend started off with a kick-off party at H&M.  We all shopped until we dropped and had an incredible time.  The store was closed off to the 500 students and our +1 guest.  It was packed but worth it!  Cocktail waiters and waitresses walked around serving mini appetizers and mocktails! The night exceeded my expectations and they were set pretty high from my previous times attending FashionU.

Here is the outfit I wore for the night!

My pants are from J.Crew (obsessed), the shirt is from American Apparel, and the shoes are from PacSun. I made the necklace myself!!

I will be leaving Friday morning to attend Teen Vogue Fashion University for the FOURTH time. I am overly excited and cannot wait to get to NYC.  My favorite place in the world. TVFU involves so so so many things and one of my favorites is the shopping events at H&M and TopShop.

I havent yet mapped out what I am looking for in TopShop however H&M, I have an entire list of too many things!! (Don't worry mom! I won't get it all!!)

Octoberfest

October is the perfect time to go pumpkin picking and through haunted hayrides and what not.  I went to a corn maze with my sorority last weekend and I had an incredible time with my sisters and got to wear a great outfit while at it! 

My shoes are called Bean Boots from L.L. Bean and the socks are old (I wish I could tell you where I got them). The jeans are from Forever21.  The sweater is from J.Crew and the jacket is from Old Navy. I made the earrings myself.

I Heart Your Style

I have just finished reading a book that I truly think every fashionista out there needs to go buy.  It is call I <3 (heart) Your Style:  How to Define and Refine Your Personal Style by Amanda Brooks.  It has dozens of tips on how to shop and what to look for depending on the style of clothes you enjoy to wear.  The book also explains the different decades of fashion and how different styles evolved.  I could not stop reading this book.. seriously.

I learned that my style was a combination of "classic" and "high fashion."  I embrace classic pieces but mix in trends and edgier pieces as well.

Color of the Month: Maroon

This month's color is maroon.  I have become a little obsessed and to be honest, can you blame me?  It is such a rich, beautiful fall color!  It would work for a shirt, pants, dress and even nail polish!  You cannot go wrong with maroon for October!
