Fall Lusts

Fall is coming faster than I imagined it would and it is now my last week in the city.  I am shocked.  Where did my summer go?  I had ups and downs and twists and turns but in the end, I wouldn't change a thing that happened. Welllllll... Maybe I would have done a little more, who knows.  Anyways, once school starts the blogging will definitely be slower and I apologize ahead of time for that but for now, I will tell you all about the shoes I am dying for this fall.

I have to decide between booties or loafers because let's be real, I probably cannot find room for both in my closet.  My shoe collection (although the majority are all summer shoes) has grown entirely too much. --Mom, do not hold that statement over my head.  Rhode Island is freezing.--  The booties, I have had my eye on since I started at Jack Rogers but obviously couldn't jump up and down with excitement until they were online.  Now that they are, voila!

via Jack Rogers
These bad boys come in four colors and leather or suede.  One of the other interns and I are obsessed but they are definitely a splurge item so right now I am looking for less expensive look-a-likes.  Help a girl out if you see any!!!

The other pair is from Sperry and I just do not know if I should get loafers instead or not.  Do they look to much like my actual Sperry's, are they not warm enough for Rhody, will I wear them more than my beloved Tory flats?  Someone, help. Please, please, please!  (Also, which color?!)

As you can see, I am struggling.  Let me know what you think!!!

Brilliant Ideas

Ashley Brooke Designs is a boutique that I came across via Instagram and I have completely fallen in love.  They sell the cutest paper and cards for every occasion you could imagine, weddings, thank yous, invitations, etc.  Oh and you want custom stationary?.... DONE.  I was lucky enough to receive this amazing note pad from them and I use it every day!

The gold foil script and pink lines match my room and add just enough sass to my every day lists.  I love it.

Now I should just save up for this adorable print.  If only she had blonde hair, then I swear she would be my twin.  Tweeting and a ball gown?  Screams Caitlin.

Hope you all had a great weekend!  Be sure to check out Ashley Brooke Designs.

Sweet Sweater

A $30 sweater for fall and winter that I can pair with anything I already have in my closet?  YES. PLEASE.  I need this sweater ASAP!  It is a must!  It not only would look cute with jeans for a chilly fall day but while the weather is still transitioning, I could pair it with cute denim cutoffs or a black skirt!  This should be added to my wardrobe immediately.

Freshly Squeezed

This whole no Pepsi thing is a lot harder than I thought.  I drink it about 1/5 the amount I used to and now whenever I have even a sip I feel guilty.  That's progress right?  Anyways, although there is still a ton of sugar in lemonade it is a summer staple so every now and then I decide to grab it instead of water!  I came across 6 different lemonade recipes on Glitter Guide and figured I would share them with you!

lemonade

Add some seasonal basil.  This doesn't look appetizing to me (I'm not a fan for plants in my drinks) but I think I may have to give it a try!  Sounds refreshing!

Blend lemon and floral lavendar with cool mint.  Another flowery drink but this one is refreshing as well and will keep you cool and relaxed in that hot summer sun we have been having!

Cucumber mint lemonade.  How delicious does that one sound?!  You will be instantly hydrated I bet!

Splash in some sparkling pomegranate juice.  I am just obsessed with pomagranates and pomegranate juice.  It is so delicious and sweet but tart at the same time!  I have no idea why I never thought of adding that to my lemonade!

Thyme and vodka.  Well happy hour will definitely be happy with this batch of lemonade!  I think this might tast delicious if you get the right mixture going on.

Whiskey, simple syrup, and lemon juice.  This is a bit different than lemonade and bit more like a whiskey sour but hey, another happy hour drink?  I'll take it.

If you try any of these let me know how they taste!  I cannot wait to hear!

I got Soul

Last night was quite the experience for me.  I went completely out of my comfort zone and went to a Soul Cycle class ....alone.  Normally working out alone is something I love and do often but trying something new is absolutely terrifying to me.  What if I stink?  What if I can't do it?  What if I don't fit in?  I literally ask every "what if" question I could until I almost convince myself not do it.  This time though, my boyfriend convinced me to just get it over with and cross it off my NYC to-do list.

Boy was he right!  The only complain I have is how uncomfortable the seats are.  Maybe I should ride standing up more of the time than they say I guess... bring a seat cover? Suggestions?  Anyways., I highly suggest you all try it out!  Of course I wore a simple RIC gymnastics tee and my trusty Nike Pro leggings.

Nike Pro Core II Compression Women's Capris
A must have for any athlete!

If I could live in Nike gear, I would.  I love it!

Nike Pro Printed Women's Sports Bra
I wish I had this!  Perfect for gymnastics practices.

Now only if my team had enough money to order more Nike apparel for my senior year... I would be in heaven.

Do any of you love Soul Cycle or a certain fitness brand? I want to hear suggestions!

Reality

Clearly I am aware that I cannot buy a $700 suitcase.  I do know that I travel a ton on weekends and a great weekend bag is a must when going to and from the city to the beach to my boyfriends to home.  I came across this fantastic leather bag that is much easier on the piggy bank than that lovely kate spade one

Summer Accessory

Being home with my family in Ocean City was wonderful.  Being able to do so and still dress chic and comfortably... incredible.  I wouldn't have felt quite as chic without my new favorite summer accessory from York Design Company.  I received this cuff from YDC a few weeks ago and have not taken it off.  I literally wear it all the time and it looks adorable with anything and everything.  I seriously might have to buy a monogrammed one because a) I LOVE anything monogrammed and b) I am going to need one to rock throughout the fall!
I cannot get over how cute this little crab is!  I love the pink and navy combo!

[Bracelet - c/o York Design Co. // Sandals - Jack Rogers // Shirt and skirt - H&M]

You must go check out YDC and their cuffs!  A must have!

Ace It!

I have been living in the city for six weeks now and it has truly taught me a lot about life and my career.  Although I don't graduate until May 2014, this internship has taught me a lot about how I should act during an interview and what I should do.  I figured I would share my tips with all of you because let's be honest, we could always improve!

Ace that Interview

Be prepared.  This one if quite obvious, but it really is important.  Make sure you bring copies of your resume and that you really know not only the company but the person interviewing you.  Be ready to answer any question about the company, their clients, and even their future aspirations without being asked.

Make a great first impression.  Be enthusiastic when you show up so your interviewer knows that you are ready and want to be there.  My grandfather always taught me that a firm handshake is important and after living in NYC, I truly believe that.  I don't trust someone who won't shake my hand.

Tell me about yourself.  That is the one question I always dread but I have learned that it is a great way for me to show my personality and facts about myself not in my resume!  I can share that I'm an avid traveler or that I love trying new things.

Lastly, make a statement.  You should wear your favorite piece, be it a shirt, pair of shoes, or a necklace that really shows your personal style.  It will be memorable for the interviewer and definitely a conversation starter once you have left the office.  Everyone at my internship remembered me by my bright coral pumps.  They were business professional but definitely made a silent statement!
An older picture I took on IG of the infamous coral pumps!

I hope my tips have helped!

Love my Jacks

Last week I was lucky enough to be the first intern featured on the blog for the "5 Things I Can't Live Without" series!  I love the way everything came together!  I got to write what I wanted for the post and help put it all together.  If you didnt get to see it, here it is...

Country Music:  There is something about a country song that warms the heart.  Whether happy or sad, Caitlin relies on country music when words are not enough.

Gymnastics:  Seventeen years under her belt and you understand why she can’t live without it!  Caitlin competes for her college and couldn’t imagine spending her time doing anything else.

iPhone:  Caitlin always has her phone on hand.  It is her source of contact with her family and friends as she spends her summer in the Big Apple!  Not only can she connect with her loved ones but it keeps her in the loop with Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook.

Black Georgica Jack Rogers:  You will see Caitlin in these sandals several times a week.  She is even wearing them in the office today!  They are her favorite!

Traveling:  Adventure is Caitlin’s middle name. Okay, so not really but you get the idea.  She loves traveling whether it is to Europe or a beach in the Caribbean, Caitlin is down to go wherever!

Make sure to check out the real post at JackRogersUSA.com and let me know what you think!

Lugging Luggage

After waking up late for work and having a panic attack because I do not do that (like ever!!!), I had to lug my huge suitcase into the office. I am telling you, huge. Then once in the office, I got to work looking at a few of our favorite blogs like I usually do when I arrive. Then, it happened. I came across this.  It is the most incredible and unique suitecase I have ever seen.  Unfortunately, like most 21 year old girls, I don't have $700 to just drop on a suitcase but hey, a girl can window shop can't she?

Lessons from the Legend

As much as I adore Taylor Swift, after all her boy drama you wouldn't think that you could learn much from her right? Wrong. In honor of her concert that I will be attending next weekend (both nights...told you I adore her), I thought I'd let you all know a few things you can actually learn from my girl T.Swift.

Do you're thang. Everyone has their own "thing" in this crazy world. It may be blogging, writing about falling in and out of love like Taylor, or it may be your witty remarks. Whatever your "thing" is, keep doing it because it makes you unique.

Find your own niche. Taylor never decided if she was a country or pop singer. She is both and her music reflects that. If you find things that you enjoy, why not combine them and create something new? This is your life and there is no one more you than you.

Be sassy. Taylor and I are both the queen of sass. Like that time she told her body guard that she can do what she wants when he said she couldn't see her fans. You need to stand up for yourself or life is going to be a lot harder than expected. We aren't talking about rudeness here, just a little sass that's all. This leads me to my next point...

via Buzzfeed
Let the haters hate. If you let every bad review, insult, or comment ruin your day, you are going to be miserable. People love to hate others but don't let that get to you because it isn't worth your time while you are succeeding.

via Buzzfeed

Leave the past behind you. Although Taylor writes songs about all of her exes, she teaches you in these songs to leave them behind you. If it didnt work out the first time, why would it the second? That whole "we are never getting back together thing" actually makes sense, more girls should follow it.

Keep your head up. People are going to break your heart or let you down but if you take that negativity and turn it into something beautiful, like a Grammy award-winning song, they are going to feel down in the dumps, not you. People will say no to you but that does not mean yes isn't coming!

Her life lessons are a lot more useful than you would think.

#MIWDTD

My imaginary well-dressed toddler daughter is probably the greatest pinterest board that I have ever seen.  One of the other interns I work with (she's a total betch and I love her to death. Haaiiiiii Eliza) told me about this after we talked about the little boy featured in The Times a few weeks ago.  If you have not seen what Quinoa ... yes that is this little diva's name.... is up to, check her out!

Each picture as a witty caption to go along with it!  You must look, seriously!

Senior Space

I do not care that it is in the middle of summer, I am constantly excited to decorate my room.  This year will be my final year in living in such a small space but I am still beyond excited to see how creative I can get with it.  I rarely ever buy new things for my rooms at school.  I have not gotten new bedding since freshman year (other than sheets) and I normally only have to buy a mirror and maybe some new pull out plastic drawers (not since sophomore year)!  Anyways... I have decided on how I want my room to look.

  • New comforter or a quilt is a must.  My white one now is too ugh blugh for me.
  • I am dying for these mini gold stickers I saw that are little circles I could put on my wall! So inexpensive from this website and so, so cute.

Confetti Wall-1 copy
via A Place for Us
Amazing blog! Check it out!

  • I also want to add a bookcase to my room.  I know it seems like it won't fit (for those of you who know where I live) but the idea in my head, it will.  Plus I have a slightly larger room this year because I switched!
  • A new rug.  I saw a navy and white one.. (I think navy, white, gold, and pink will be my colors since I already have almost everything in them anyways) that is chevron and I am in love.  Total must have. (p.s. This website has the absolute best rugs! So so cute!)

I figured all of these things would be able to be used in my apartment once I graduate.  If I get an apartment? If I graduate?  Hahah totally kidding. I am graduating in May.

Do you think this color combination sounds cute?  Give me any advice you have!

Get Your Shades On

I am seriously loving the mixing color hue trend.  Pink on pink, blue on blue, green on green.  I love it! Everyone is so scared to mix the same colors in different shades with each other and I do not understand why.  These lovely women were able to pull of this look with ease!  You should all try it.  Be a little brave!  I am going to and I will post about it soon.  Promise!

Have any of you tried this fabulous trend?  Let me know!

Lippy

I have been blessed with the greatest group of aunts and uncles in the world.  Unfortunately (yet so amazing because I love visiting them) my dad's sister and her husband live in England.  I get to see them about a quarter of the amount of time I wish I could.  When they visit I LOVE it and visiting them is just as incredible.  Luckily enough, my auntie has amazing taste in beauty products.  She introduced me to Chanel Lipgloss at a young age and I have been hooked ever since.

Chanel makes some of the best beauty products and their lipgloss is no different.  It stays on forever without drying out and getting gross and sticky (a huge pet peeve of mine).  I honestly suggest it to anyone and everyone.  Even though there are only drips left in some of mine, I keep them all.  There is always enough for an emergency application while I'm out at the bar.  The collection below is all from my fabulous auntie and I could not thank her enough for introducing me to the wonderful world of Chanel.

This lovely pink gloss is number 131!  Almost sheer and perfect for summer!

Wine and Dine Me

I am lucky enough to live with my cousin in NYC and her dad, my uncle, takes us to dinner whenever he is in town.  We call it being wined and dined however, in reality, we don't drink wine with him and it gets crazy and fun instead of fancy.

Anyways, when living with five other girls, six total, and we all have internships in the city, money is not filling our wallets.  Being wined and dined has a whole new meaning to me so I have come up with a list of great wines that all cost under $20 for the small spender! Summer and wine are a perfect match so next time you are at the store, pick one of these up and pour yourself a treat!

Cupcake Vineyard's Sauvignon Blanc - $10.99
A friend of mine cannot get enough of this wine so of course I am going to suggest it!

Moscato
Skinny Girl Moscato - $18.99
You just cannot beat 100-calories per serving for under $20!

Chateau de Campuget Costieres de Nimes Tradition Rosé 2011 - $10.99
Rosé is perfect for a summer soirée!  I might even have to plan one!
Clearly I am not a fan of red wine! Haha!  Hope you all get to try one of these soon (if you are 21 of course)!

Summer's in Full Swing

Now that I can count the days until July on one hand, I figured it was time to remind all of you the best way to be spending your sunny, summer days!

summersecretspost

Go with the flow.  Say yes to everything and everyone and don't look back.  You will not regret the experiences you get to have but you will regret saying no.  Do you ever think a river stops flowing? No, so throw on a life vest and jump on in.

Just add salt water.  Do not bother with doing your hair and putting on tons of makeup.  Be natural and spray some salt water into your hair.  You will be good to go and the boys will love your natural look.

Indulge.  Summer fruits, veggies, and every other seasonal food only lasts so long.  Please your taste buds with your favorite treats whether it is ice cream and sprinkles or a fuit salad.  Your belly will be sure to thank you.

Cherish your friends.  There is only so much time you get to spend with your bests.  Do not let it slip away because one day you will miss those times.  The memories are what will keep you young and laughing until your hair turns gray.

Travel.  Traveling is the only way to spend money that will actually make you richer.  Trust me when I tell you this.  Get out there.

Be a daredevil.  Overcome your fears and jump off that cliff, literally.  Don't hold back.  This gorgeous weather will only last a few more months so get out there and go skydiving or something.

You can thank me later.

A Girly Guide

One of my friend repined this today and I could not agree more with all of it.  My best friends came to the city this weekend to visit me and I could not be more thankful to have them in my life.  They made me realize that I can just be myself on sunny curls and I will stand apart from the rest.  I am real.  I make mistakes, normally quite humorous ones.  I will be loved no matter what.

Be yourself.  Love yourself. Cherish your girls.

The Fourth

Other than my birthday (yes it is a holiday in my eyes) and Christmas, the Fourth of July is my favorite holiday!  Although the fireworks seemed too loud when I was a child, every other memory that the Fourth brings is my favorite.

The beach, lake house, best friends, fireworks at west, swim club days, greasy watermelon games, bathing suits, family, love.  I literally am the happiest in July.  The memories this month brings makes me giggle with excitement and I cannot wait for July 4th!

This year I will be celebrating with my fantastic boyfriend and best friends in Rhode Island.  I will be escaping the city and taking the train up to visit all of them for the week.  I am so excited to see everyone and I know that my boyfriend will be the best guide to all the RI beaches, esp. Newport (he works there!!).

Here are some pictuers to get you excited for the Fourth!
