Do You Blaze?

If I had to pick an article of clothing that others would call "my signature look" I would have to pick a blazer.  They give me confidence no matter what else my outfit consists of.  I have dozens of them! Half were bought within the past few years and the rest are from when my mom used to wear them.  The key to the perfect blazer is the fit.  The fit will literally make or break the look you are going for.  Obviously each fit will change the statement you are trying to make.  You can dress up and outfit or dress one down with just the addition of a blazer.  Don't be afraid to try and add one to your wardrobe because it will definitely be worth it!  Here are a few that I found..

It's Easter for Peep's Sake!

I am beyond excited for Easter.  I am not sure if it is because of chocolate, peeps, going home, or wearing my new Lilly dress.  No matter the reason, I just cannot wait for next weekend!! I already know what I am wearing but for many, it is still a dilemma.  Here are some suggestions..

Weekend Warrior

You Can't Rain On My Parade

Rhode Island weather almost always includes a few days of rain a week.  Do you have any idea how hard it is to dress cute when it is raining?!  Over the past two years I would say I have mastered two accessories that are a must for rainy weather! The rain boot and the umbrella!  I personally adore my Sperry rain boots and my J.Crew pair.  Even though I love them to no end, I think I may have to invest in a pair of these Hunter rain boots.  I think the off white ones are perfect and I have heard they last forever.

Umbrellas are obviously another must during a rain storm.  No one wants to get soaked while walking to class!  Trust me, I have been that girl that has gotten splashed by cars.  No bueno.  My suggestion?  Find an umbrella (Urban Outfitters, Target, American Apparel) that is "dome" or "bubble" shaped! they protect your face and hair a little bit better from the rain and any splash that might be coming your way!

Lilly Lovin'

Okay so all my friends know that I am completely in love with Lilly Pulitzer.  So why not share with you all the dress that I have fallen head over heels for!  The Maybell dress.  It is truly to die for.  The shape and fit of it looks incredible and it comes in so many different prints and colors!  My favorite being the blue and white striped version!  Here are a few that I adore.

Stacks on Stacks on Stacks

I'm not sure about all of you but I love accessories.  I make earrings and I am starting to make bracelets.  It has truly become a passion of mine.  Wearing bracelets has also become something I love to do.  I can express the mood I am in by putting different bracelets on.  The stacks below are what I have been wearing lately however, I also like to mix it up with some pearls, bangles, chunky plastics, and my evil eye bracelets.  You can mix and match and pair up any set that your heart desires.  They (almost) always look fabulous!

Sitting, Waiting, Wishing

There are a handful of things sitting on my "wish" list (or as my friends would say, "get it" list) for Spring! The first thing I must say is a new addition.  I recently saw a post on College Prep talking about J.Crew's Chino shorts and I absolutely adore them!  They are the perfect pair of shorts for Spring time, especially with all of the colors they come in! I wish I could buy them all.  I better start saving!

The next item would have to be a pair of Jack Rogers.  These sandals have made an appearance on almost every blog I follow.  They come in dozens of colors and last forever! (At least this is what I am told!)

Home Sweet Home

This year for spring break I made the choice of going back to the lovely state of New Jersey!  I usually would be the first to get on a plane and go somewhere warm and sunny, but this year I was a little homesick to say the least.  I had a long winter full of traveling every weekend to gymnastics meets and all I wanted was to sleep at home.  I figured I would share some of my adventures this week at home that I captured on Instagram! 

I took a shopping trip with my mom and got these fabulous Steve Maddens from DSW and this new Lilly Pulitzer dress (my first)!  I also picked up a new, gorgeous coral blazer, a romper, a few pairs of leggings, jeans, and what not.  It was a great day in my book! I also LOVED spending the time with my mom!  She is truly the best.

Of course I had to make a trip to visit the gym that I have trained at my whole life!  I adore my old coach and had to say hi!  When I got there, a picture and article that was published by my college was hanging on the wall!  I finally feel special to them (it is a complicated story haha).  I received ECAC Coaches' Choice of the week and I could not be more thankful.

Just a picture of my calamari from when I had dinner with all my guy friends that were home.  They are the best!

Bye bye hair!  I got it all cut off and I am loving it!

Yes, I posted a picture of my front door because I adore the color and every time I see it I think of home.

Heaven on Earth.  Those are the words I use to describe Wawa.  It is one of my favorite things about home!  (And it has the cheapest gas! Which I don't have to pump when I am home... another reason to love it!)

Fashion Star

Have any of you seen the new show on CBS called Fashion Star?  It is wild! The show aired last night and completely blew me away.  I am not even sure if I mean that in a good or bad way haha.  I was in love with some of the designs and others all I could think was, "what are you thinking?!"  But I guess that is fashion!

To be on that show would be an obvious privilege but just imagine what it is like to actually have your design bought on the episode?! Right there.. in front of you!  The buyers are just willing to sell your design the very next day! Talk about a dream come true!!  Here were two of my favorite designs that were bought.  One by H&M and the other bought by Saks! 

This one is designed by Orly Shani and has been bought by Saks Fifth Avenue!

It is a two in one skirt and the top layer literally just zips off to show a tighter skirt!  Talk about fabulous!!

There is an adorable cut out on the back of the dress and some even have pockets! In love!!

If these two designs weren't already sold out, I would definitely own them! Ugh ..better luck next time I guess!  Will anyone else be watching next week?!

Hot Cross Buns

The way you wear your hair can completely change an outfit.  A single headband or braid can turn an outfit around.  A bun, in my opinion, is the best way to show off an outfit.  People won't be distracted by your hair but at the same time, your hair will still look fabulous.  A bun is an easy way to look effortlessly beautiful.  

There are dozens of different types of buns and if anyone knows me well enough, they know that I love to rock the top knot! My hair is thin and curly so doing it early in the morning for class is usually a disaster.  My first go-to for morning classes is a top knot.  I feel confident and classy which is the key to a great outfit.

The sock bun is another favorite of mine!  I have had to come up with my own way of creating one since my hair is so thin but I still love to wear them!  There are tons of tutorials on them all over Pinterest and Tumblr.  The sock bun always makes an outfit look clean.  I would definitely try one out if you haven't already!
